This painting was subsequent to ‘Heavy Snow’ and ‘Twins With Snow’; the three are a part of a small body of work that was inspired by a heavy wet snow fall. I liked the way the snow adorned the trees and contrasted with their dark branches. This painting was decidedly finished prior to painting the snow on the boughs. I found the stark branches created a somber mood that was appealing in the bleak winter scene, like two lost souls bearing the hostile season.
