(You have to imagine 3 women in their 50s and 60s making snow angels, and enjoy the laugh). Anyway...several years ago, my eldest sister, found your Three Angels prints for sale, and purchased 3 copies...one for each of us. My sisters and I each have them hung in our homes as a reminder of our yearly tribute to our beloved dad, year around. And now that the warm weather is finally here -- I post winter pictures! \u003cbr\u003eSo here's the story behind this one: years ago we took the kids on their first ski trip. We stayed at Mont Tremblant. At noon we stopped at the base of the little beginner hill and waited for Mom to bring some hot chocolate. You see, she didn't want to ski. She was happy just looking around the village and bringing us treats during the day.\u003cbr\u003eBut here's another story: as I was there I thought back to the times I spent in the Laurentians with my family when I was young. My parents' favorite resort was Le Chantecler. It was a beautiful, charming place near the quaint town of St. Adèle. At night you could look up at the mountain and see the big cross beside the church all lit up. When we were there over the Christmas holidays, my sister and I went to the special Christmas dinner they held for children, while the adults had their own party in an adjacent room. After dinner, it was off for a sleigh ride up the mountain to the center of St Adèle. I remember the bitter cold, the sound of the bells jingle-jangling, and the sound of the horses as they trudged through the deep snow on the roads. We kept covered under the bearskin. My friends and I would head down the street to the golf club for that special hill that you could see from the road. That's where everyone's favourite toboggan hill was. One year I got a Krazy Karpet for Christmas. It was better that our old aluminum toboggan because it was made of vinyl and therefore fast on snow and ice, it could roll up and it was lightweight and easy to carry. Unfortunately it wasn't easy to ride on because I would always end up sliding off of it as I went down the hill. More often than not the Krazy Karpet and I would part company about halfway down the hill. And once I was able to remove what seemed to be several shovelfuls of snow from my face, neck and boots, the next task was to chase my Krazy carpet as it continued downhill.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese days all the hill like that are off-limits, because too many children died after hitting trees at the bottom of the hill. In my day I don't remember hearing of anyone seriously injured after hitting a tree. I was visiting my mother who was in long-term care, and this is the view from the dining and activity room. As I looked out I thought to myself what a beautiful scene it was. Sadly, my mother was past the state where she could appreciate the view. Perhaps twenty years earlier I would have told her that this scene, although not an exotic location, somehow had the warmth and charm that captured the spirit of a peaceful winter evening. \u003cbr\u003eI came across the photo quite by accident the other day, and thought that I needed to try to capture what I was thinking at that time. I looked back at the times my mother and I would visit family and friends who were in long-term care. And I also recall thinking that I never really considered that one day I would be visiting my own mother under the same circumstances. And I remember how much I wanted to tell her that I would want to paint a picture of that scene, since it was so quaint. \u003cbr\u003eWhen I was younger I would show my art to her. She and my dad, who passed away in 2013, were always so supportive of my art. I longed, and long still, to be able to show them what I create. \u003cbr\u003eThese days I often hear the song song \"Memories\" playing on the airwaves. It brings me back to those winter days when I would visit my mother, and hope, in vain, that somehow she would transform back into the person that I knew years ago. \u003cbr\u003eAs the song goes: \"There's a time that I remember, when I did not know no pain\u003cbr\u003eWhen I believed in forever, and everything would stay the same\u003cbr\u003eNow my heart feel like December when somebody say your name\u003cbr\u003e'Cause I can't reach out to call you, but I know I will one day.\" \"Here's to the ones that we got\u003cbr\u003eCheers to the wish you were here, but you're not\u003cbr\u003e'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories\u003cbr\u003eOf everything we've been through\u003cbr\u003eToast to the ones here today\u003cbr\u003eToast to the ones that we lost on the way\u003cbr\u003e'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories\u003cbr\u003eAnd the memories bring back, memories bring back you\"\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eCherish the times with family and friends.
