Angels in the Architecture
Original photography and encaustic on board 14 x 14
St. John the Devine is an inspirational place in NYC. Non-denominational, filled with unusual sculptures and artifacts, unfinished, not to mention a colourful history. This piece collages in a photo of a portion of the church’s exterior door embellishments and surrounds the photo with various textures, carvings and patterns, suggesting the stone walls of this edifice. Note that St. John the Devine is now a hospital, caring for Covid-19 sufferers.
