Studies in Line

This series was inspired by
Canadian composer Barbara Pentland’s piano work Studies in Line, in which she experiments with different linear contours and uses intervallic motives in a bi-tonal framework. Blown with silver,
these pieces incorporate a technique
of Russian artist Fabergé and will
produce a slight blue hue when
exhibited on a dark background.
The quality of the line is in itself
a fundamental visual language,
to an extent that cannot be
claimed for any other single element. Its use is so universal that we are all profoundly sensitive to it.
