Title: Troubled Tide, Acrylic on Canvas, 12 inches by 16 inches
Bonnie always had an interest in most artforms since she was a child. Her Dad’s hobby was drawing and painting with watercolours so he showed her the ropes. She never seriously considered art as a career until she was 17 and about to graduate high school. She went to Nipissing University and Graduated their BFA Honours program in 2015. There she tried the four cornerstones of the Fine Art world: painting, drawing, sculpting, and printmaking. Out of those 4, she loved painting most. So she has been seriously painting for about 8 or 9 years now.
Bonnie enjoys history and stories, so most of her work has either a historical or narrative aspect to it. Her more unusual works (like Moe or the Golden Bouquet) come from images that just pop into her head. These images stay there and won’t leave her alone until she has made them into works of art. Sometimes that is enough and she can move on. Others, like Moe, are harder to shake. They keep coming back in a new way, or they start to appear in her other works of art.
But their reappearances can take months. In between those, she enjoys painting landscapes of places that remind her of her home, growing up. Or, she will practice a new technique and it develops into a painting.
