About Canadian Visual Artist Joanne Gervais: Joanne’s artwork is a delicate and striking balance of composition and depiction, all having an organic essence flowing through. This is the result of decades of training in life drawing and painting. Her deft use of colour and texture solidified by her training in the classical arts and now influenced by the hard edges of contemporary painting, combine to create a style that defines her work regardless of what subjects she chooses to depict. Joanne Gervais loves painting subjects as diverse as portraits, abstracts, sports and landscapes using all media but favouring oils and pastels and now with acrylics.

About Meg Muirhead: Meg says, “I paint water scenes. A lot of them. And I’m really not sure why. But when people look at my work they talk about how they feel when they view it. They say words like ‘nostalgic’, or a ‘sense of peace’ or ‘calm’, or ‘fond memories of past travels’, or ‘reminiscences of their home’. Sometimes it’s loneliness or loss that is triggered. So I guess that answers my question…that’s why I paint water. It’s a universal theme that we can all relate to in a very personal way. Plus the fact that liquid, pigmented beeswax moves in fluid waves on my palette and creates the most lovely textures - from smooth, glasslike blues to the ripple textures of the shore.”
