Meet Capitaine Jacques.
This hand-carved wooden figure of a French ship captain measures approximately 4.5” x 2.5”. Each piece is carefully carved from basswood and sealed with boiled linseed oil to enhance its durability and prepare the surface for painting.
The carving evokes the traditional folk art figures that could once be found throughout the Gaspé Peninsula, recalling fond memories of family trips to Eastern Canada’s maritime communities. Rich in character and detail, Capitaine Jacques celebrates Canadian heritage, maritime history, and the enduring tradition of handcrafted artistry.
Because every carving is made individually by hand, no two pieces are exactly alike, making each one a unique and authentic work of craftsmanship.
