Cardinal and Berries by Kristi Bird

This painting captures a unique vantage point of the beloved cardinal. A walk along a dirt road near my house, trying to follow the sound of a raven calling, I scrambled into the bush to find that the ground dropped off into a bit of a valley below. I sat quietly waiting for the raven when this beauty flew in to a bush right below me. Often we see cardinals sitting in the grass as they are ground feeders so our view is above them but this position gave me a bird’s eye kind of view of him in a bush. I never tire of painting cardinals but am always grateful for new ways to see them.
