Downtown Joy
Merry Christmas and happy new year to all our customers and friends. This year has been a challenge, but with your support we made it through, and we are truly grateful!
Also, this marked our first year at our new, second location. Martello on Brock is such a quaint Dickensian-styled shop, so I painted it on a nostalgic theme. As I created this piece I recalled the many times my parents took me to see the animated windows in Toronto. This was long before the CN Tower and the Eaton Centre! I remember the cold, the snow falling, and the white lights strung across Yonge Street.
It’s those memories I cherish the most, and not the latest high-tech toy of the day. Those become obsolete. Memories with your parents do not. Make sure that this Christmas you create the memories for your children that will not become obsolete.
May we all have a safe and happy Christmas and new year!
David Dossett is the owner and an artist of Martello Alley. He captures wonderful moments of quiet reflection through his imagery of nature and his home town of Kingston, Ontario. He also engages us to think about simpler times of youthful innocence with his whimsical paintings of children playing.
This provides us with a moment to leave the negativity in world behind and refresh ourselves with memories of joyful times.
David's work can be found at Martello Alley or online at MartelloAlley.com.
