Pearl River swamp area - 8 x 10 print
Pearl River Swamp parking area! I found it so peaceful with these "Live Oaks" providing lots of shade. Did you know these oaks were evergreens? The southern live oak is particularly iconic of the Old South. The live oaks are majestic and live for several centuries. Several of these old trees were destroyed during Hurricane Katrina but were replaced.
This is an infrared image (590 nm) taken in New Orleans' area - 30 minutes out! You can go on a river boat tour and see alligators. The swamps themselves are mystical, fascinating and otherworldly. I tried to portray that impression by using infrared photography.
