St Mary’s Cathedral- This imposing structure built in 6 years, opened in 1848 and enlarged in 1889 can be seen from just about everywhere in Kingston. It is wonderful subject to sketch and contains a lot of detail to savour in its 74m tall spire. This view on Johnson Street looking south is a favourite of mine. The 11” x 14” watercolour and ink sketch was done on smooth paper, bonded to mdf board then varnished to seal it. Reproductions of this scene are available at Martello Alley.
