**“Terre des bonhommes” by David Dossett**
This 8” x 10” acrylic on panel captures a nostalgic winter scene at the former USA pavilion of Expo 67, now the Biosphere in Montreal. The painting shows children gazing in awe at a snowman, framed by the geodesic dome’s striking structure, designed by visionary architect Buckminster Fuller.
During Expo 67, the USA pavilion was among the most popular attractions. Visitors marveled at its innovative design as the monorail passed through the dome. Inside, the Apollo and Gemini space capsules, suspended from the ceiling, offered a glimpse into the Space Age, captivating audiences with their promise of exploration and progress.
David’s personal connection to Expo 67 adds a heartfelt layer to the work. At six years old, his parents placed him in daycare while exploring the fair—a vivid memory that lingers in this charming composition.
