The medium of encaustic layers very well to many different other mediums such as paper, fabric, pastels, oils, natural materials, etc. Because you can build up quite a thick layer of wax you can also imbed items in the wax and still maintain an archival quality.
Beyond Words (also Oyster, Notes from the Erebus (sold), The Wasp and the Butterfly) one of four pieces in which I’ve incorporated found objects, natural images on rice paper and musical pages which informed the theme of each of the pieces.
